At last good news from the US.
A couple of years ago several people were killed in and around
Washington DC when two men shot indiscriminately at people. The gun
used was made by Bushmaster and it was apparently stolen from the
Bulls Eye gun store. Bushmaster continued to supply guns to Bulls Eye
even though the dealer ‘lost’ hundreds of guns through carelessness.
Following court action by relatives of those killed Bushmaster agreed
to pay $550,000 and Bulls Eye paid over two million dollars.
Secondly, a gun distributor in Pennsylvania has agreed to pay $850,000
to the mother of a seven year old boy who was killed when he and
friends found a loaded gun under a car.The gun had been supplied
illegally to a street dealer by the distributor.
Thirdly, a teenage shooting victim has raised enough money to buy-out
a bankrupt junk gun dealer and shut it down. The teenager was
paralysed in a shooting incident by a defective Bryco Arms handgun and
had won a verdict of $51 million dollars, causing Bryco to file for
bankrupcy.
The NRA tried to have legislatiion passed which would have given
special immunity to the gun industry and if successful it would have
been almost impossible for the victims in the above three examples to
achieve justice. Why then is the SSAA so buddy buddy with the NRA?
