Australian politicians resemble politicians in many other democracies -they are either fooled by the mish- mash of simplistic arguments presented by the gun lobby or they trade public safety for gun lobby votes. Our parliamentarians therefore avoid improving gun laws as long as they can. In fact they wait till a gun massacre occurs.

In this book, John Crook looks back at his 25 years of fighting for better gun controls. He concludes with the belief that however wise our politicians may be in other matters, on gun control they are poorly read and often biased. This results in better gun laws only being enacted after a major killing – therefore the author argues that they operate on Kill Theory.

The author also looks into the future and warns that Hansonite conservatism and privatisation of public responsibility have infected many political parties.
